LANbada for SAA provides the most versatile AS/400-to-PC gateway solution
available. This gateway product satisfies a wide range of connectivity needs in a simple,
one-package solution. Any number of AS/400 hosts can be accessed by PCs on remote LANs,
local LANs, multiple/segmented LANs, and individual remote PCs using modems.
LANbada for SAA is an advanced software-only
product that provides LAN users Advanced Program-to-Program (APPC) connectivity without
special network routers or substantial memory requirements. Resource requirements on the
AS/400 are also extremely low. Both installation and operation are simple and
user-friendly, while providing unprecedented power and flexibility.
Users can access the AS/400 from Windows and DOS.
Windows users enjoy full-featured APPC display and printer emulation with 32 sessions, SQL
file transfer, and multiple-host access. For DOS users, PC Support is fully supported
including WSF, shared folders, file transfer, IBM Rumba, etc.

BOSaNOVA Client for Windows is full-featured APPC emulation and file-transfer connectivity
software. Because of its integration with LANbada for SAA, no separate APPC router
is required. It is available bundled with LANbada for SAA, or separately as
individual copies or a site license.

emulation system, please refer to BOSaNOVA Client for Windows.

Unique versatility
Connect PC users to your AS/400s, wherever they are. Local and remote LANs, multiple LANs,
LANs with multiple segments, and remote PC users using modems can all obtain AS/400 APPC
access with LANbada for SAA.
Flexible network connection
All IPX and NetBIOS LANs are supported, including Novell, LANtastic, Windows NT (NetBIOS
only), Windows for Workgroups, and Windows 95.
Powerful remote PC access
The gateway distributes sessions to up to 18 remote users simultaneously. Remote offices
and mobile users can connect to the AS/400 using standard modems over switched,
non-switched, and packet-switching telephone lines, and/or ISDN terminal adapters over
ISDN lines. Remote PC access is available alone or in conjunction with a LAN
configuration.
Hardware independent
The gateway accomplishes a connection with the AS/400 over Ethernet, Token Ring, SDLC, or
Twinax, and can disseminate up to 128 sessions, depending on configuration.
Easy-to-maintain gateway
The gateway requires minimal hardware and is easy to install, unlike gateways based on
complex operating systems such as NetWare or Windows NT. The straightforward installation
takes just minutes, even for complex configurations including both LANs and remote PCs.
Access for all users
The system supports both Windows and DOS users. Windows users have the full power of
BOSaNOVA Client for Windows. For DOS users, PC Support is fully supported including WSF,
shared folders, file transfer, IBM Rumba, etc.
Flexible host access
Windows users can concurrently access multiple hosts, even via multiple gateways using
different LAN protocols. One Windows user can access multiple AS/400s via LAN and modem
simultaneously.
Low resource requirements
LANbada for SAA offers an excellent cost/performance ratio by allowing all users
and applications to share a single APPC controller and APPC device, sparing AS/400
processor load and megabytes of memory. On each PC, neither APPC routers nor complicated
combinations of multiple network drivers (such as LLC, ODI, IBM LAN Support, and MSDLC)
are required.
High performance
Intelligent algorithms provide high response speeds and minimal communications traffic.
Use of LANbada for SAA on a LAN significantly reduces network traffic as compared
with an AS/400 directly connected to the LAN.
